From 8-bit Dreams to AI Reality: The Story of NeonDreams Lab
The Spark
My journey with digital art began in the mid-80s in Hungary, with a Commodore VC-20 and a dream: to make static pixels move and blend. From early wireframe experiments on the Commodore 64 to ray-tracing on the Amiga, I was always fascinated by the intersection of code and visual beauty. But life took me in different directions, and for a long time, these ideas remained just sketches on a hard drive.
The Experiment
The true predecessor of NeonDreams was a small experiment over a decade ago: a program visualizing the interference of cosine waves. It created mesmerizing, kaleidoscope-like patterns that my wife and I loved watching for hours. We knew there was something special there, but the technology and my time constraints made it difficult to turn it into a finished product. The motivation slowly faded, and the project went dormant.
The Revival
Fast forward to 2025. Leveraging the power of modern Artificial Intelligence, I decided to resurrect these concepts. What once took months of coding now comes to life in days. AI became the catalyst that allowed me to bypass the tedious parts of development and focus purely on creativity and logic.
The Vision
NeonDreams Lab is the result of this revival. It is not just a collection of web experiments; it is a launchpad for something bigger. We are currently prototyping Android live wallpapers and standalone hardware devices powered by Raspberry Pi to bring these relaxing, generative light installations into your living room. Welcome to the lab where we turn dry formulas into living art.
